Try to leave the Earth a better place than when you arrived.

One reason I really love essential oils is the fact that it makes DIYing easy and toxin free! I can reuse jars I already have, see the exact ingredients that go into what I’m making, and when you make something it feels so good. You can also easily make it your own. Don’t like peppermint toothpowder? Use cinnamon. Want a relaxing lip balm? Put in some lavender. I love it!!
So I have a confession…I hoard lip balm tubes. I keep the old ones and wash them so that I can use them for my DIY version. I’m not one who enjoys sticking my finger in my lip balm as I’m a wee bit of a germaphobe. This also extends to wide mouthed glass jars. It worked out well considering I made 7 for teacher appreciation week to give to the girls’s teachers!
Anyway, back to my post! So I used one of my FAVORITE reference sites that I trust for all things essential oils: Plant Therapy. If you want a reference code for $10 off your first order, I’ll share it at the end of this post.
Sugar scrub is great because it feels great to pamper yourself and have silky smooth skin. Depending on what essential oils you use, it can be uplifting, relaxing, or energizing. Ahhhh, the beauty of aromatherapy!
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup fractionated coconut oil
- 2 Tbsp almond oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, or other oil
- 10 drops lemon, lavender, orange, or other blend essential oil
Mix the coconut and other carrier oils and sugar together in a bowl. Combine well. Add essential oils and mix again. Put into a clean glass jar of your choosing. Use on your feet, hands, or body.
I find it easier & cleaner to use a small scoop or spoon to get the scrub out. If you do use your hands, make sure they’re clean and that you don’t get water in there. It will encourage bacterial growth. Plant Therapy says this scrub will last for 6 months after you use it when cared for correctly (but I doubt you’ll have it that long!) ; )
