The world changes when it snows
So it’s been snowing here again (yay!) and after sledding, we decided to make snow cream (with a side of coffee and Glühwein)! I have fond memories of making this with my meme growing up. I have 2 recipes I use. The one with milk and sugar is Meme’s recipe whereas the sweetened condensed milk one was concocted when we didn’t have milk one day. I have seen recipes that use the entire can for about ½ gal of snow, but I found that almost too creamy and sweet. I use the other half of the can in my coffee so it doesn’t go to waste.
Snow Cream
Ingredients
8 c clean snow (the fluffier the better!)
2 tsp vanilla extract or imitation vanilla
EITHER: ½ c sweetened condensed milk -OR- 1 c milk and a ½ c white sugar
Milk all the ingredients together well and, voila, there’s your quick, wintertime dessert.
I like my snow cream to be more snow than cream, but certainly add more of the sweetened condensed milk or milk and sugar if you are wanting it creamier.
If you make snow cream or have ever made it, let me know! I love hearing other variations of what we make in our house.
Hope you’re enjoying winter as much as we are! ❄️
