frankincense essential oil: a natural anti-aging solution

Frankincense essential oil is a popular oil to use in skin care products and for a good reason. It is known for its use with mature skin and help with fine lines and wrinkles. Frankincense is an oil that has a long history, even being mentioned in the Bible at the birth of Christ. Today you will learn why paying attention to the essential oils you use in your skin care routine is crucial for maintaining the health and enhancing the appearance of skin.

When you smell frankincense essential oil, you cannot miss it. It has a woody, balsamic scent with a touch of citrus that helps promote peacefulness. Frankincense is found in sunny, dry locations (like South Africa and the Middle East) and is made from the resin of the boswellia tree. There are different types of frankincense oil you can find on the market, today I will be talking about the popular skin care one: frankincense carterii.

As you will see, frankincense carterii is not just for again skin.  It is a jack of all trades and has many medicinal properties from skin care to relaxation.

When you are feeling sore or your muscles overworked, diluting frankincense with a carrier oil, such as olive oil, and massaging it in can help with soreness. Its anti-inflammatory properties also make it a popular essential oil to rub into joints that are sore as a result of arthritis. (source)

Frankincense is a great choice to diffuse during times of grief and sorrow. It may help aid in breathing, quiet the mind, and improve cognitive function.

Those anti-inflammatory properties that help with sore muscles and joints also helps your overall skin health!   Frankincense essential oil Its regenerative properties also helps decrease the appearance of scars, to include acne scars and stretch marks. It also helps soothe skin irritation and and is a popular oil used in lotions for those with certain skin conditions, such as eczema.

Using frankincense essential oil in a facial oil or cream may help with skin elasticity and decrease the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. This oil helps to protect your skin from free radicals. These free radicals can lead to premature aging and promotes healthy skin. Adding a drop or two to your face cream not only helps to “ground” you, but also promotes a more youthful appearance.

ways to use frankincense carterri

Frankincense carterri is one of the best anti-aging essential oils to use. You can pair it up with a variety of carrier oils, such as coconut oil, argan oil, or jojoba oil, to dilute it and rub it into your skin. You can also mix it with other skin health promoting essential oils.  Rose oil or lavender essential oil can be added to your skincare products to help the appearance of your skin. 

Another way to use frankincense is in one of your homemade body butters. Combining frankincense with other ingredients that have high antioxidant properties helps to promote a more youthful glow and repair the skin’s damage from uv rays. 

It is always a good idea to dilute your essential oils.  Whether you are using them for their wound healing properties or just to improve the overall appearance of your skin. Never use an essential oil “neat”, undiluted, on your skin.
