I haven’t even gotten my other two posts up about my 2 month reflection of airstream living or our move from GA to OR. But J is more on top of things these days and has gotten our first YouTube video up! It wasn’t how we expected to start our channel, but it’s a first video nonetheless. In September, there were some wildfires started in Oregon. Some are listed that lightening started them, but more than a few are still listed as “unknown” causes. In fact, the really big Oregon Wildfire that was close to us, Beachie Creek, is still only 59% contained & not predicted to be contained until Oct 31, 2020.
We left on Friday Sept 11, 2020 because the air quality had become hazardous. We weren’t in any danger of the fires, but it was hard to breath and the children were stuck indoors all day. With no end in sight, we decided it would be best to pack up and head out East to Idaho.
We drove 6 hours before finally seeing the air clear and another 2 before we got to our campground. The first day the air quality was beautifully clear and healthy. However, the next day (and for about a week after) the air quality in Idaho was “unhealthy”, but still much better than Oregon. So all in all, our decision to leave the Oregon Wildfires behind us was a success.
I won’t type out everything here, as it’s all in the video. But if you’re interested in our pack up and move from OR to ID, you can watch the video below!
